There isn’t a great swimming spot. There aren’t any designated off-leash areas. But for some reason that I can’t quite put my finger on, we love this park. It’s our happy place. Maybe’s it’s the stunning views (there are many). I think it has more to do with the peacefulness. It’s a big trail system, and there are times when we spend an hour there, and hardly see another person. I guess that’s the introvert in me talking.
So if you’re in need of some quiet time, or you’re looking for a place to go for a peaceful jog with your best friend, this is your spot.
How to Get There
Main Entrance
Drive up Portland Street, or, if you’re headed eastbound on the Circumferential Hwy (Hwy 111), take exit 7E. From the Circumferential Hwy (Hwy 111), continue driving up Portland Street (which turns into Cole Harbour Road) for about 4.7km. Turn right on Bissett Road. This is the same road you would turn down to go to Rainbow Haven Beach. Continue for about 1km, and the parking lot will be on your left.
Secondary Entrance
If you keep driving along Bissett Road for another 2km (3km from Cole Harbour Road), there is a secondary, less-used parking lot. We often use this one, because it provides direct access to one of our favourite trails, the Costley Farm Trail.
