Fort Needham Memorial Park

Fort Needham Memorial Park is home to the City’s most notable tribute to the Halifax Explosion. It’s also a fantastic fetch spot, offering a large grassy field that is off-leash approved!  In fact, Fort Needham Memorial Park is our favourite North End haunt (due in large part to the serious lack of options in this area).

I am putting Fort Needham Park into the category of “Sports Fields & Dog Parks”, instead of “Parks & Trails”, because we really just use it for a fetch spot.  There aren’t any walking trails, lakes, etc.

How to Get There

The park is conveniently located in the heart of the hydrostones in the North End, in between Devonshire Avenue and Novalea Drive.  We park at the Union Street Entrance (from Devonshire or Novalea, turn onto Kenny Street and then onto Union Street).  I believe there is a second entrance at the end of Needham Street (turn from Devonshire or Novalea onto Young Street and then onto Needham).
