Porters Lake Provincial Park Campground Off-Leash Dog Friendly

A Spontaneous Camping Trip to Our Very Favourite Campground

Every summer, we say we’re going to do more camping. And every summer, we end up being way too busy. Summer busy is a great kind of busy, don’t get me wrong. This summer in particular, we enjoyed lots of incredible adventures. But last weekend, we realized that September was here, and we had only gone camping twice. You might remember that we went hiking and camping at Blomidon Provincial Park for the May long weekend, and on Canada Day weekend, we went backcountry camping at Kejimkujik National Park. They were two awesome (and two very different) experiences. It just didn’t feel like enough. So on Saturday around lunchtime, when the weekend chores were done and we were trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the gorgeous day… the idea of a spontaneous one-night camping trip was born.  Continue reading

Port Joli Beach in Port Joli, Nova Scotia Off-Leash Dog Friendly

This Might Just Be The Best Swimming Beach Ever.

For Labour Day weekend, we were back on the road, returning to the South Shore for a final jaunt at the end of my incredible five-week vacation. The main purpose of the trip was to visit family, but of course, we take any road trip as an opportunity to go exploring with Dal.

The weather was glorious, so naturally, we headed to the beach.  Continue reading

It’s the End of Summer. But that Means… Fall Hikes!

And just like that, it’s September. This time of year used to be huge for me. The transition from August to September always meant back to school: new things, new faces, new beginnings. I just loved it. This excitement continued through my seven years of university, but when I entered the “real world”, August started slip into September unceremoniously.

This year, I get to feel the excitement all over again. I return to work the day after Labour Day, and although I am returning to an old job, it feels like a new beginning.

I also get to take some time to reflect on what was a really, really awesome summer. Continue reading

White Rapids Adventure Trail in Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick Off-Leash Dog Friendly

White Rapids Adventure Trail: A Unique Park That Combines Nature and Art in the Most Wonderful Way

In this week’s post, I am taking you outside of the HRM, and outside of the Province, to the coolest little park I have ever seen. I wanted to share this park with you, not just because it’s a great spot to take dogs (although Dallas did love it there), but more because it’s such a unique and beautiful park. I can’t believe I only recently heard of it, despite living in the surrounding area for a collective nine years.  Continue reading

DIY Homemade Dock and Boat Ramp / Ladder for Dogs Tutorial

DIY Dock & Boat Ramp for Dogs

As I said last week, I have been lucky enough to score a few weeks off this summer while I am between jobs. Dallas and I kicked off this extended vacation with twelve days at my parents’ lake house in New Brunswick. Lucky us. We couldn’t have been happier about tons of outdoor time, which for Dallas included many hours spent doing the doggy paddle while she chases sticks in the lake.

That girl loves to swim. So when my parents got a new boat, no one was more excited than Dallas. She couldn’t wait to jump off the boat into the water. But while it was easy to get her off of the boat, getting her back on to the boat was a bit of a problem. Continue reading
