Herring Cove Provincial Park Reserve in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Herring Cove Hikes Make for Happy Hounds and Humans

Do you need a generous dose of salty air, crashing waves and coastal views? Then you need an afternoon at Herring Cove Provincial Park Reserve. It’s a treat for all of your senses.

Drive along Purcell’s Cove Road for about 25 minutes, and you’ll reach the trailhead for this beauty. You will be immediately greeted by a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, and it only gets better from there.

The trail meanders along the rocky coastline.

On Google Maps, it looks like the trail eventually connects with Shore Road. We couldn’t figure out how to get there without tracking through some private property. But we know from experience that Google Maps can be misleading, so we decided to just turn around and head back.

All in all, the hike took us just over an hour. Personally, I can’t think of a better way to spend an hour (or two, with driving included).

One last thing: The ElderDog Dartmouth East Pawd Online Auction starts TODAY at noon! You can check it out here.
